WESTVALE, N. Y. -- John Anthony Lanahan, 69, of Westvale passed away at his home on Sunday, November 7, 2004 surrounded by his family.
He was born on October 19, 1935 in Albany, N.Y. He was the son of John and Nora Ryan Lanahan.
John was employed by the Comptroller of the Currency as a national bank examiner for 20 years. He then served as vice president of Community Bank, retiring in 1997 after 14 years. Following his retirement, he served for one year as interim president of Citizens Bank, Malone, N.Y. John loved his summer home in Lake Clear, N..Y and spent many happy years there. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and wood carving. He was a member of the Onondaga Wood Carvers Club.
He is survived by his wife of 28 years, the former Jean Duffy; three sons, John of Boston, Timothy of Buffalo, Matthew Lanahan of Westvale; his mother, Nora Lanahan of Albany; his brother, William (Kathryn) Lanahan of Glenmont; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Friends may call Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Whelan Bros. Funeral Home, 3700 W. Genesee St., Syracuse. A funeral Mass will be offered at 12 noon, Wednesday in St. Charles Borromeo Church. Burial will be on Thursday in Harrietstown Cemetery, Lake Clear, N.Y.
