Crimean War Victoria Cross Recipient. Born in Portsmouth, England, he served as a Seaman in the Royal Navy. On November 5, 1854, at the Battle of Inkermann Crimea, Seaman Reeves with two others manned a Lancaster Battery parapet and held the Russians at bay with steady rifle fire, while his colleagues below reloaded and passed rifles up. For most prestigious gallantry, he was awarded the War Victoria on February 24, 1857. He later achieved the rank of Captain and died at age 33 in Portsea, England.
