They were living in Charlotte, Eaton Co., Michigan at the time and ran away to their oldest half brother's, George, who was living in Saskatchewan, Canada at that time. The two teenage boys worked their way across the country. They stopped in Sacramento, California for a time before making their way to Pomona, Los Angeles Co., California.
