Francis was the son of John Slaughter of Essex County, Virginia. He married Elizabeth Underwood, the estranged wife of James Taylor, about 1654. Col. Slaughter was a planter of Surry County until after 1655, when he moved to Rappahannock County, where he was a captain of militia and justice. Francis & Elizabeth had one child, a son named Francis. Francis the father died in 1656, and Elizabeth later married John Catlett. Francis was living as late as 3 Aug., 1657, when he was listed in Rappahannock Co. Record Book, 1656-64, pg. 34.

Abstract of the will of Francis Slaughter: To my mother-in-law, Mrs. Margaret Upton, 10 shillings to buy her a pair of gloves. My brother-in-law, Coll. Moore Fauntleroy, my book entitled Hooker's Ecclesiastical Policy. To Andrew, my overseer, as much boradcloth as will make him a suit. To my dear wife, Mrs. Elizabeth Slaughter, all the rest of my estate, and appoint her executrix, reserving and excepting my rapier and belt and a young mare that runs either about Lyons or Lower Chipoaxe creek ____ _____ river. I appoint my good friend and loving brother (in-law), Humphrey Booth, assistant to my wife, and give him the said rapier and mare.
