Alfred (Alf) Morris, 83, of 44 East Lincoln Blvd., Waynesburg, died at 10 a.m. Monday, June 18, 1975 in Greene County Memorial Hospital. He had been in failing health for some time and seriously ill for several days.
A son of the late J. Herman Morris and Essie Belford Morris, he was born November 20, 1912 in Franklin Township and resided all his life in the Waynesburg area.
Mr. Morris, who graduated from Waynesburg High School in 1932, was a veteran of World War II, having served with the 29th Infantry Division in Europe, where he was awarded the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart.
He was a retired rural mail carrier and served with the Postal Service for 25 years.
Mr. Morris was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Waynesburg; James Farrell Post 330, American Legion; Waynesburg Post 4793, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the Greene County Chapter, Disabled American Veterans.
Surviving are his widow, Louise Willard Morris, whom he married November 16, 1935; a sister, Mrs. Kenneth (Ruth) Coy, Springfield, Ohio; two nieces, Mrs. Barbara Kettner of Tipp City, Ohio, and Mrs. Connie Blair of Waynesburg, and one nephew, Terry Morris of Waynesburg.
A brother, Sam, was killed while serving with the Army in Europe during World War II.
