Aline "Pug" Buckwalter slipped away in her sleep on July 13, 2013, with her two daughters at her side.
She was born in the lighthouse on St. George Island to Shelly and Mae Lawhon, grew up in Sopchoppy and later married Raymond Earl Buckwalter, an Air Force officer and pilot from Paradise, Pennsylvania.
During their forty years together, they lived abroad in Germany and Spain before returning to her North Florida roots.
Pug was a ballroom dancer, a Life Master bridge player, and world traveler. She was deeply proud of her Sopchoppy heritage and fiercely loyal to family and friends of all ages and walks of life.
She gave generously of herself whenever and wherever needed. She had unwavering convictions and took joy in debate. She brought fun and laughter to all.
Pug wanted everyone to know that, above all, she had a good time in life.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 PM on Thursday, July 18, at Bevis Funeral Home, 2710 N. Monroe St, Tallahassee (850) 385-2193. Burial will take place at Arlington National Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Big Bend Hospice, 1723 Mahan Center Blvd 32308.
