James Ashton, Jr., 76 James Ashton, Jr., 76, of Aston, died July 13, 2013 at Crozer Chester Medical Center. Born in Eddystone, he was son of the late James and Elizabeth Sanderson Ashton and lived in Glenolden before moving to his late residence 48 years ago. He was an electrical engineer for the US Naval Department.
Mr. Ashton was a graduate of Eddystone High School and the former Pennsylvania Military College, class of 1959, earning a BS Degree in Engineering. He served in the U.S. Army as a First Lieutenant and continued in the Reserves, where he obtained the rank of Second Lieutenant. He was a member of Mount Hope U.M Church where he served as Superintendent of the Sunday school and also Chester Lodge No. 236, F. & A.M. Mr. Ashton was a former member of Aston A.A. where he coached baseball.
He loved college football, camping but most important to him was his faith, family and his dogs. He was husband of the late Mary Louisa Meade Aston, his wife of 35 years, who died in 1995. Survivors: His children Lu Ann Paul (Patrick), Jami Louisa Ashton-Panoc (Joseph) and Scott Andrew Ashton; his brothers Edward Ashton and John Ashton; also grandchildren Connor Paul, Gavin Paul and Zachary Scott Ashton.
Visitation: 7:00 to 9:00PM, Thursday, at the White-Luttrell Funeral Home, 3551 Concord Rd., Aston. Funeral Service: 10:30AM, Friday, at Mount Hope U.M.
