At a young age Gabriel moved to Brownsville, TX where he graduated from Porter High School in 1989. It was there that he was a part of the varsity cross country team who won district two years in a row. It is also his time in Brownsville that developed his love for the beach and motorcycles. He also made lifelong friends here and would consider Brownsville his true hometown.
After high school, Gabriel decided to serve his country by enlisting in the US Army as a combat medic. He was attached to the 1st Cavalry Division out of Ft. Hood, TX where he was deployed to the Gulf War. Gabriel was honorably discharged as a Sergeant (E-5) in 1996. He continued his career in the medical field working as a nurse technician in the emergency room. In 2003, he was recognized by the hospital as caretaker of the year.
Gabriel loved and lived life to the fullest. He had a great sense of humor and he never met a stranger. He was always willing to help others. He will be greatly missed.
Memorial services will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 18, 2013 at Weed-Corley-Fish, 1200 Bagdad Rd, Leander, TX . Interment will be at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen, TX at a later date.
