August was the son of French immigrants Antonio Moungie and Barbara Marion. On 07 Nov 1875 he married Addie Wiley and they had thirteen children: George, Annie, Mary, James, Augustine, Anna, Edward, Katie, Henry, Richard, Edna, Matthew and Raymond. According to census records, at various times August was employed as a saddler, a peddler and an expressman. His death certificate stated that he was a retired machinist. August died of pulmonary tuberculosis at the age of 57.
