Thomas J. Fosmire 84 of Saratoga Springs passed away Sunday, July 14, 2013. Born in Cohoes, August 27, 1928, he was the son of the late Charles and Mary Fosmire. Tom was an Army Air Corp veteran serving in World War II, Korean and Vietnam. He retired as a Master Sergeant in the US Air Force after 27 years of service. After his retirement from the military, Tom worked security for many local department stores and lastly at Wesley Health Care Center in Saratoga Springs.
He was a member of VFW Post 420 of Saratoga Springs. Tom enjoyed bowling, photography, painting and drawing. In his younger years he was an active marksman. He was an animal lover and enjoyed his pets.
He was predeceased by wife, Anna, his sisters, Mary and Winifred and his brothers, John and Charles. Tom is survived by his daughter, Annamarie Fosmire; his grandson, Dr. Steven T. (Crescentia) Fosmire, Capt. USAF; two great grandchildren; his sister, Kay and his brother, Robert both of Florida; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 12 noon on Thursday, July 18 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Milton Avenue, Ballston Spa where a mass of Christian burial will be celebrated. Interment with military honors will follow at the Gerald B H Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Duell Road, Town of Saratoga.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Community Hospice of Saratoga, 179 Lawrence Street, Saratoga Springs, NY 12866 or Saratoga County Animal Shelter, 6010 County Farm Road, Ballston Spa, NY 12020.
