"THE LETTING GO"
Oh no, how can I? Too many remembrances from the past, keep flowing through my mind--these memories bind.
Dear God, untie the bond, and set our loved one free--to soar on to the eternal heights of eternity.
The trip has been hard--she's tired.
Written by, Ruby Lee Vanover Beverly--6/21/2013. Love to a dear person--my Niece Debby.

A letter my mother wrote in October 2003:
Hi All -
This is something, I feel I must share, with my family. I have sat at my pool 3 evenings this week, trying to decide, what moves I need to make, in my life..
The moon was full, the palm tree & moon reflected, in the pool water. It was the most beautiful sight, I have seen in a long time. This place is my life & my dream.
It is expensive to stay here, but if I miss heaven, I can say, I had a piece of it, here on earth.
Love to all of you.
Jackie

A beautiful, generous and loving woman, beloved Mother, grandmother, sister and friend died from complications of pneumonia on July 23, 2013 at Hope Hospice in Fort Myers, FL. She was diagnosed with Mediastinal Lymphadenopathy, not a disease itself, but a symptom of histoplasmosis; a fungal infection caused by breathing in the Histoplasma capsulatum fungus in bird droppings - This occurred several years prior while staying in a guest room at her son's home where several birds were caged. While there, she suffered a major asthma attack, and continued to suffer for many years afterwards, unaware of the cause of her distress.

Jackie was born on May 6, 1934 in Wheelwright, KY, the sixth of nine children, to Clarence Estes and Nora (Swindall) Vanover. She grew up in Clintwood, Virginia in a loving family, who eked out a life in the mountains and coal mines of Appalachia. The family was poor, but rich with love and family history. She attended grade school in a one-room schoolhouse on the property of her grandfather, Morgan T. Swindall in Osborn Gap, Clintwood, VA. She attended Dickenson Memorial High school, but had to leave school to find work in Detroit before she was able to graduate; she later earned her GED and attended Henry Ford Community College in Dearborn, MI.

Jackie married William F. Haase in 1954; they had five children, and were married 29 years until they divorced in 1983. While she was married to Bill Haase, Jackie served as the President of the Police Officers Wives Association. Jackie worked first as an operator at Michigan Bell, later promoted to Supervisor at AT&T; she retired after 27 years of service. She represented the CWA (Communications Workers of America) for many years as a Chief Union Steward. Jackie worked hard raising her children, taking care of her home, while also working for the phone company which was a demanding employer.

Jackie met the love of her life and soulmate in William E. Dutka; they were married on Mackinac Island in 1985. After they both retired, they moved to Cape Coral, FL where they enjoyed socializing with their many friends; playing cards and dancing. From Cape Coral, they traveled the world and enjoyed cruising, cave-tubing, white-water rafting, horseback riding, and visiting National Parks and family. They were exceptional hosts when people came to visit them, showing everyone a great time.

Suddenly & tragically, Bill Dutka died from stomach cancer in Feb. 2000 at the age of 69. Jackie was heartbroken; life was never the same. They had planned to grow old together, but as Bill said, "It wasn't in the cards."

My Mom began staying the summers in Michigan with my family; we all enjoyed the last 13 years of memorable visits. We traveled to Mackinaw City, Mackinac Island, Marquette, Munising, and Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore in the Upper Peninsula. We also traveled around Plymouth, Westland, Saline, Dexter & Ann Arbor. Plans were made to eventually live together as Mom aged; 6 mos. in Michigan and 6 mos. in Florida. My husband and I put our house up for sale that summer, but it was too late.

My Mom had three major surgeries after Bill had passed; I took special care of Mom, nursing her back to health each time. Mom lovingly called me "Her Nurse." We enjoyed a very close and loving relationship throughout our lives; without any disagreements; it was pure joy. I was experiencing serious health issues at the same time my Mom became ill in 2013, so I entrusted Mom's care to two of my sisters, Sandra and Brenda, even though Mom asked me not to call them. It was a decision that was tragically life-changing for all.
