John C. Harvey, 53, of Wilcox, died early Friday morning, July 29, 2005, peacefully after a short illness at Elk Regional Health Center in St. Marys.
He was born May 22, 1952, in Punxsutawney, the son of Jack and Sarah [sic] (Sprankle) Harvey, who both preceded him in death.
He married Kristene Harvey on April 27, 1974. She survives.
Mr. Harvey graduated from Punxsutawney High School, and was employed by MetalDyne as a tool and die maker for 17 years.
He was Catholic by faith and a member of Wilcox Fire Company for 25 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and golfing and has a carpenter who built his family's home.
He is survived by a son, Scott Harvey of Ridgway; five daughters, Amy Harvey and her husband Rex Rensel Jr. of Harrisburg, Krista Harvey of Pittsburgh, Katie Harvey of Slippery Rock, Shelby Harvey of Wilcox, and Taylor Harvey of Wilcox; two brothers, David Harvey, and Daniel Harvey of Marion Center; two sisters, Jackie Brooks of Punxsutawney, and Susan Blair [sic] of Punxsutawney; and his mother- and father-in-law, Victor and Lucille Belin in Punxsutawney.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Anne Catholic Church in Wilcox on Monday, Aug. 1 at 10 a.m. Father David Wilson will officiate. Viewings will be at UBEL Funeral Home, 111 Bridge St., Johnsonburg, on Sunday, July 31 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m., and Monday, Aug. 1 until 9:30 a.m.
Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery in Rasselas. Memorial donations, if desired, may be made to Wilcox Fire Department.
