Jacob Rink was born in Luxemberg, November 14, 1850 and passed
away at midnight at his home in Mineral Point on January 8, 1920, after a week's
illness. When twelve years of age he came to this country with his parents and
resided on a farm near Mineral Point. He spent a number of years farming; but
later became interested in mining, which occupation he was forced to give up
because of rheumatism.
On July 4, 1888, Mr. Rink was united in marriage to Miss
Leslie Curry. To this union two children were born, Susan M., teacher at Westby
and Florence E., superintendent of Schools of South Beloit. The wife and
daughters were with him during his last hours and did all that loving hands
could do.
Mr. Rink was for may years a member of the Modern Woodsmen and always
took a great interest in the welfare of the order and took an active interest in
all-its meetings. He became a member of the Trinity Episcopal Church of this
city on March 19, 1915, and his devotion to the church and its activities was
unceasing. TO his neighbors and friends he was a willing helper in time of
need; and to his wife and children he was the best of husbands and the kindest
of fathers. Funeral services were held from t he Episcopal church on Sunday
afternoon, Rev. F.G. Williams performing the last sad rites. The Woodmen were
present in a body and in beautiful words bade farewell to their neighbor at the
grave. Burial was in the family lot in Graceland. w/Card of Thanks. [Iowa Co.
