Jack was the son of Bernice Emory and Lecta Leigh (Cheek) Smith. He married Lois E. Hedrick in 1942 and they were the parents of two daughters: Pamela Leigh and Susan Elizabeth.

Jack Pershing Smith, 73, of 2604 Dellwood Drive died June 24, 1992, at his home.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Hanes-Lineberry North Elm Street Funeral Home. Burial will be in Westminster Gardens.
A native of Ramseur, he was a retired supervisor for the U.S. Postal Service, a charter member of Lawndale Baptist Church, a member of the Greensboro chapter of the N.C. Society of Accountants, and an Army veteran.
Surviving are wife, Margaret D. Smith; daughters, Mrs. Pamela Morgan Smith of Greensboro, Mrs. Susan Smith Clark of Kernersville; sister, Mrs. Hilda S. Oliver of Houston, Texas; brother, Robert Lane Smith of North Myrtle Beach, S.C.; three grandchildren.
The family will be at the funeral home 7-9 tonight.
