Keron moved with her parents, W.S. (Sam) and Frances Lenora Westmoreland, six brothers and five sisters to Houston in the early 1930's. Keron was a loving, caring sister, wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was a member of Baptist Temple and supervisor of their infant nursery. An active, successful business woman for many years; Keron was in partnership with her brother, Sherrill Westmoreland, in the ownership and operation of downtown Houston gift and snack shops, including one in the Houston Chronicle building. Keron was an early activist supporting "Nursing Home Reform" testifying before a U.S. Congressional Committee. Her charming sense of humor entertained the entire family for many years. Her grace, style, and dignity were in a class all their own. Mrs. Howard is preceded in death by her loving husband of 59 years, Fred R. Howard, and beloved son, Lawrence E. Howard. She is survived by her son, Kenneth R. Howard and wife, Joyce of Houston; daughter-in-law, Cathy Howard of Fremont, CA; grandchildren, Karen K. Howard and K. Russell Howard II of Houston; Kevin, Michael and Matthew Howard of CA; great grandchildren, Isabelle and Daniel Howard of CA. Special thanks and loving appreciation to Carlene Williams and Brenda (Demery) Jackson and longtime friend, Minnie Flamer.
