Bernard came to Canyonville, OR when he was an infant and was raised there. He went 12 years of school and graduated from the Canyonville High School in 1952.
Shortly after he graduated he enlisted in the US Navy and served 6 1/2 years. He was stationed in Japan, Italy and Guam.
After completing the military service he attended college. Bernard attended the University of Wisconsin, North Dakota, Texas and the University of Oregon. He received a Bachelors, Masters, Ph.D and a Law Degree. Bernard accomplished a lot in his lifetime and was a successful business man. Bernard led an adventurous life. He loved to travel, fish and hunt.
Bernard passed away from bone cancer.
Bernard is survived by one brother, Jim Hyatt and four sisters: Velma Fromong, Rose Peach, Loretta Fenn, and Helen Staggs; also an aunt Mary Kindall and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents Ed and Alice Hyatt, one brother Robert Hyatt, his wife Linda, and a niece Peggy Brown.
He was laid to rest in the Holy Cross Cemetery in Culver City, CA on July 11, 2013. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
