Kenneth was born in Niota on July 18, 1927, a son of the late Albert Marion and Sarah Elizabeth McPhail. He joined Philippi Baptist Church in 1959 and was a faithful member. He was the oldest serving deacon and chairman of the deacon board at the time of his death. He was retired from Charleston Hosiery Company where he worked for over 40 years. He loved and was very devoted and spent his life serving his Lord, his wife Pauline, and his family and church family. His heart's desire was to let his life be a witness of Christ's love to those around him and he was concerned about everyone's salvation he came in contact with.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by one daughter, Judith Ann McPhail, three sisters, Vesta Peak, Ethel Thearp and Glaphrey McPhail; three brothers, Ralph McPhail, Lewis McPhail and Earl McPhail; and one grandson, Wallace Gregory Harden.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving and devoted wife of almost 70 years, Alice Pauline Thomas McPhail; three children, Linda Murray and her husband, Jerry, Sharon Harden and her husband, Lake, and Dwaine McPhail; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; one sister, Irene Sneed of San Jose, Calif., and numerous other extended family members, friends and church family.
A celebration of his life was held Sunday at 7 p.m. at Philippi Baptist Church with Dr. Sammy Hooker officiating.
The family received friends at the church on Sunday from 4 to 7 p.m.
The burial took place on Monday at 11 a.m. in the Earls Cemetery with the deacons of Philippi Baptist Church serving as pallbearers.
Companion Funeral & Cremation Service of Cleveland is in charge of arrangements.
