"Mrs. Marjorie Prentiss Campbell, aged 84, of Pleasantville and Cherry Valley, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, May 17, at Cherry Valley. She had been in failing health for some time. Mrs. Campbell was born August 3, 1882, in Brooklyn, the daughter of George Hunt and Caroline (Edwards) Prentiss. She was a graduate of Vassar College and had been an English teacher in the French School, a private school for girls in New York City. On August 28, 1917, she was married to Dudley D. Campbell in Albany. The couple made their home in Brooklyn until a few years ago when they moved to Pleasantville. Mr. and Mrs. Campbell spent their summers at the Campbell ancestral home, 'Oakwood,' just south of Cherry Valley ... Surviving are her husband; two sons, George P. Campbell of Brooklyn, and Dudley D. Campbell, Jr. Pleasantville, and seven grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 2 p. m. on Saturday, May 20, at the First Presbyterian Church, Cherry Valley, with the Rev. Thomas J. Beckely, pastor, officiating. Burial was in the Campbell family plot in the Cherry Valley Cemetery. Arrangements were by the Ottman Funeral Home in Cherry Valley."
