Daniel B. Kennedy, born June 5, 1927 in Lisbon, to Mary E. McDonald and Daniel M. Kennedy, peacefully passed away at United Helpers Riverledge, Ogdensburg, on Monday, August 12, 2013 at the age of 86.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 15, 2013 at St. Mary's Cathedral at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Joseph Morgan officiating. Burial will be at St. Mary's Cemetery following funeral services. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, August 15, 2013 from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. at Frary Funeral Home, on 515 Caroline Street in Ogdensburg, before the funeral services.
He attended and graduated from St. Mary's Academy in 1945. September of 1945 he enlisted in the U.S. Army where he was honorably discharged having received a Good Conduct Medal with the rank of Sergeant. He then went on to Bryant College in Providence, Rhode Island graduating with a B.S. in Business Administration. Early in his career he worked as manager of the Old Firestone Store in Ogdensburg. For many years he worked as a manager for General Electric in Syracuse, New York. From there he landed a job as Credit Manager in the Dairy Division of Kraft Foods in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania until retirement in 1987 which brought him back to his beloved hometown.
Daniel was preceded in death by his parents; and his brothers, Carl, Robert, and Richard; and his two sisters, Marion Kennedy (Carville) and Dorothy Kennedy (Sullivan). He leaves in passing his eldest brother, Curtis Kennedy of Ogdensburg and ten nieces and nephews.
He was an avid gardener who shared many of his gardening secrets and beautiful perennials with his close neighbors. Although he was a very private man he was a true gentleman who will be deeply missed by all.
