Thomas Church McGriff, 90, of Three Rivers died Saturday, March 11, 2006 in a local nursing home following an extended illness. Mr. McGriff was born to Thomas and Clara McGriff in San Antonio on Feb. 29, 1916. He was a WWII veteran and proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy.
Mr. McGriff was preceded in death by his parents; a grandson, Brett Lister, in 1972; his first wife, Noema McGriff, in 1976; and second wife, Mary Rose McGriff, in 1998.
Survivors include his son, Thomas (Linda) McGriff of Dallas; a daughter, Clara Lynn "Smokey" (Tim) Wilson of San Antonio; a stepson, Bill Ankenbrock of New York City, N.Y.; a stepdaughter, Margaret (Ed) Ogan of Indiana; five grandchildren, Thomas Kevin (Paulissa) McGriff of Austin, Sherri McGriff of Mesquite, Cary (Michele) Lister of Houston, Griff (Debra) Wilson of Trinity and Trent Wilson of Baton Rouge, La.; and three great-grandchildren, Maggie McGriff of Austin, Hannah Duncan of Mesquite and Allegra Wilson of Trinity.
Visitation was held Sunday in the Roberson Funeral Home Chapel in Three Rivers. The funeral service was held Monday at 10 a.m. in the chapel. A private family burial followed in the Three Rivers Cemetery.
