George Lewis Straub, 92, of Morgantown, passed away Wednesday afternoon, November 17, 2010 at Ruby Memorial Hospital.He was born in Morgantown on April 11, 1918, a son of the late Bernard & Gertrude Fickey Straub.He is survived by his wife, Evelyn Caroline Wicks Straub a son, Gregory Brent Straub and his wife, Renee of Morgantown and two grandchildren, Dr. Adam David Straub and his wife Miriam of Melbourne, Australia and Travis George Straub of Pittsburgh, PA.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Carl “Pete” Straub one sister, Eileen Furman, and one foster brother, Harold “Shorty” Smith.George was a carpenter by trade, having worked for J.G. Sheets in Akron, OH and R.S. Corson and Max Messenger Contractors of Morgantown. He was a skilled woodworker and outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing, hunting and mowing his grass.He was a veteran of both World War II and the Korean Conflict, having served with the Army Air Corp and the 8th Air Force.He was a Past Potentate of the Osiris Shrine Center, and held membership in the Star Lodge #187 of Cuyahoga Falls, OH. He was a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason, Royal Order of Jesters and was a member of the Morgantown Shrine Club, and a Charter Member of both the Mountaineer Patrol and the Taylor County Shrine Club.Friends will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce St., Morgantown on Friday, November 19th from 6-9 PM and again on Saturday November 20th from 10-11 AM. The funeral procession will leave the funeral home at approximately 11:15 AM Saturday morning for Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens in Westover where Full Military Honors and Masonic Graveside Rites will be accorded at 11:30 AM.",176667
