Luella “Lou” (Rouse) Swiatnicki, 84. On Tuesday, November 25, 2014, Lou went to be with the Lord. Following a few strokes over the summer, Lou was courageous in her battle this last week with pneumonia and congestive heart failure. She was well cared for this week at Bay Area Medical Center in Marinette and prior to that Rennes West in Peshtigo. Throughout her final days she was surrounded by her children and grandchildren as well as all of the good thoughts and prayers of her friends and family.

Lou was born July 7, 1930, and a graduate of Coleman High School. She married Valentine Swiatnicki on June 10, 1950. In her 84 years on this Earth, Lou accomplished a great many things. As a resident of Peshtigo, she was a dedicated parishioner of St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

She stood proudly next to her best friend and husband, Valentine “Val” for 64 years. Together they raised seven children: Fran (Wendy), Jim (Vicki), Ron (Mary Lee), Mary (Tom Chadwick), Lisa (Tom Smith), Renee (Greg Tonn) and Michele (Bruce Bushmaker).
Beyond their children, she shared in the hugs and kisses of her grandchildren: Heather, Ryan, Cody (Abbie), Jennifer (Kevin Roeder), Jessica (Derek Thompson), Vanessa (special friend, Chad Rohm), Angie (Bob Smith), Jared, Jayson (Dawn), Rebecca (fiancée Adam Thiele), Nathan, Derek, Rachel (Cory Hanley), Allysa, Melissa, and Makayla; Great-Grandchildren, Cassidy, Devlin, Carter, Karlee, Landon, Caleb, Jaxon, Cooper, Braedhan, Logan, Mason and Alexis.

She is also survived by, her brothers: Art (Karen) Rouse, Karl (Fern) Rouse; a sister, Donna Mae (Fred) Stoeger; a sister-in-law, Delores Rouse; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Diana Rouse; brothers: Jerome and Kenneth and a grandson, Anthony Smith.

Luella was a kindhearted and warm person. She was so much fun to be around. Aside from giving her time to the church as a member of St. Mary’s Altar Society/Women of Faith, she enjoyed spending time up north fishing, crocheting, knitting, cooking as well as spending time with her family. Lou loved the Packers, Badgers and Brewers, country music and dancing the polka. She could be found often cheering on her grandchildren at their sporting events. This week, Val held the hand of his best friend and bride of 64 years. Our family gathered to support and grieve, daughters and sons reflect the love of their parents onto their own children, nieces and nephews, grandchildren lead by the example of strength and love from their grandparents and give to each other. The bond that connects us all is love… the love of Lou Swiatnicki. We are all better for knowing her. We are all fortunate to have her love and to love her. We cry and we laugh and we remember. We pray, knowing her legacy of love will carry on, that we can remember to celebrate her life and her love. I was told that grief is only great because of great love and Luella Swiatnicki was great love.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 29, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Peshtigo, from 9 a.m. until time of funeral Mass at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery in Peshtigo.
