CAUSE OF DEATH: Charles died from a broken neck when horseback riding on the bridle path in Jackson Park, Chicago. The strap that held his saddle in place broke and when galloping around a corner of the path, the saddle slid sideways and Charlie was thrown to the ground.

(W) Gray, President of Yellow Cab Company was killed today when he was thrown from his horse while riding with friends in Jackson Park. Mr. Gray was 52 years old. The story of the vicissitudes of his career and his rise from a newsboy and taxicab driver to Presidency of the large corporation is a dramatic romance of Chicago business.
