U.S. Army vet was school
bus driver for Haulit Inc.

Donald L. Kalist, 67, of Carmichaels, died unexpectedly Saturday evening, December 10, 2005, in Southwest Regional Medical Center, Waynesburg.

He was born May 3, 1938, in Center Township, a son of Kathryn June Tharp Kalist of Carmichaels and the late Joseph Kalist.

Mr. Kalist was a graduate of Cumberland Township High School and resided in Cumberland Township most of his life.

For several years, he worked for the former Allison Exxon in Carmichaels. At the time of his death, he was a school bus driver for Haulit Inc. in Carmichaels, where he worked for a number of years.

Mr. Kalist was a U.S. Army veteran and a member of Cumberland American Legion Post 400 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3491, both of Carmichaels.

He enjoyed his pets.

Surviving are two daughters, Crystal L. Kalist, with whom he made his home, and Pamela Wood of Nemacolin; a son, Gary Kalist of Slidell, La.; four grandchildren, Amanda Kalist, Allison Kalist, Jeffrey Swift and Katie Wood; two brothers, Jerry Kalist of Pensacola, Fla., and Richard Kalist of Davenport, Fla.; his former wife, Karen L. McCray of Summersville, W. Va.; and several nieces and nephews.

Deceased is a sister, Joan Kelly.

Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in Yoskovich Funeral Home, Martin J. Yoskovich, funeral director, 300 South Vine Street (Route 88), Carmichaels, 724-966-5500, where services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, December 14, with the Rev. Harold O. Kelley officiating. Interment will follow in Laurel Point Cemetery, Carmichaels. American Legion Post 400 and VFW Post 3491 will accord military honors graveside.
