He attended Amberg School and lived the majority of his life in Amberg except from 1960 to 1962 when he was drafted in the United States Army and served in West Germany guarding the Berlin Wall. While in the Army, he earned several accommodations including being the top of his class in marksmanship and sharpshooting. After his discharge, the call of the Northwoods brought him back to Amberg where he resumed his career in logging. The last 25 years of his career, he drove logging trucks for Carl Schroeder, Jr. Company. He loved stock car racing from being in the pits to watching his favorite NASCAR racer Dale Earnhardt win many races. Jack's favorite hobby was deer hunting. Very few could compete with his shooting skills or the number of trophy bucks he took down throughout his hunting career. The last two years, he proudly watched as his two grandsons experienced their first seasons hunting. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and step-grandchildren, taking them on 'crazy drives' in the "rice burner", teaching them how to build a proper fire and watching them run and play as they explored the forty that he loved so much.
Jack is survived by his daughter Carolei (Paul) Fonteccheio of Green Bay, WI;
three grandchildren;
a step-daughter Trina Hoskins;
2 step-grandchildren;
four sisters: Jean Ylvisaker, Karen Mathias, Dorothy Whitaker and Debra Edwards.
He was preceded in death by his parents;
two brothers: Francis "Bud" and Robert Beattie;
five sisters: Marilyn Midtbo, Mary Jane Axcell, Joan Mattison, Sandra Carter and Marian Espy
and a special friend, Paula Hoskins Anderson.
