Capt. Beauregard was the grandson of Gen. Pierre Gustave Toutant Beauregard and his first wife Marie Antoinetter Laure Villere. His father, Rene Toutant Beauregard was the eldest son of General Beauregard and had a distinguished career in his own right. His mother, Alice Cenas, was the daughter of M. Hilary Briton Cenas and Margaret Octavia Pierce of Baltimore.

The Rene Beauregard family would spend extended periods of time making their home with the General which delighted him. Of their six children Gustave was the only son and was named after his grandfather. He of course was a favorite of the General's and the family called him "Guste".

Capt. Beauregard attended the University of Virginia and graduated with a degree in law. Continuing his family tradition of Military service he became a Captain in the United States Military Intelligence Divison and served during World War I.

He married Mildred Green in Washington DC, Nov 28, 1922. His wife followed him in death on Feb 19, 1935.

At the time of his death he was an attorney for the Federal Trade Commission.
