---PEKIN - Burnis D. "Bernie" Cochran, 53, of 1503 Koch St. died at 7:45 a.m. Tuesday, July 30, 1996, at Pekin Hospital.
---Born June 25, 1943 in Liberty, Ky., to George T. and Ova Mae Allen Cochran, he married Doris R. Palmer on July 22, 1976, in Jamestown, Tenn. She survives.
---Also surviving are one son, Patrick C. Turner of Louisville, Ky.; three stepsons, Keith Clark of Pekin, and Russell Blake and Jeffrey Blake, both of Oklahoma City; three daughters, Mrs. Dennis (Rhonda) Winn, Mrs. Kenneth (Tracie) Herbig and Mrs. David (Melissa) Dringenberg, all of Pekin; one stepdaughter, Mrs. David (Kathy) Vetter of Pekin; five grandchildren; five stepgrandchildren; one brother, Eugene Cochran of Kentucky; and three sisters, Mrs. Jesse (Coreen) Galloway of Junction City, Ky., and Mrs. Gene (Faye) Crow and Mrs. Raymond (Betty) Beals, both of Liberty, Ky.
---He was preceded in death by five brothers and two sisters.
---He worked for Caterpillar Inc. in East Peoria and Mapleton for 31 years, retiring as a power trucker in June 1995. He served in the Navy Reserves from 1962 to 1964 and was a member of Roy L. King Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1232. He was a member of Pekin Eagles Aerie 1869. He was a member of Bethel Temple in East Peoria.
---Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel. The Rev. Robert W. Rigler will officiate. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be Old Sand Prairie Cemetery in rural Green Valley.
---Memorials may be made to the Old Sand Prairie Cemetery Fund, in care of Ray Weyhrich, 1117 S. Fourth St., Pekin, Ill. 61554.
