Grayson Hebard Gowen, age 76, of Castle Rock in Colorado died March 3 at Denver.
He moved with his family to Cheyenne during grade school and graduated from Cheyenne High School in 1954.
He performed with his band, The Gray Gowen's Dixieland Band, at many high school dances and other events around Cheyenne.
He obtained a bachelor's degree in anthropology from Northwestern University before serving three years in the U.S. Army
at Brady Air Base in Japan.
He then obtained a Master of Divinity degree from Iliff School of Theology in Denver.
He served Presbyterian churches at Cedar City in Utah; Rocky Ford in Colorado, and Riverton.
He was a member of the Elks and the Masons.
He enjoyed playing the trumpet in church and was a member of the Castle Rock City Band.
He also enjoyed reading and spending time with his congregations.
Cremation has taken place, and his ashes will be interred at Fort Logan National Cemetery with military honors.
A memorial service will be in Riverton at a later date.
