Mr. Joseph J. Merkum, 72, of 58518 E. Clear Lake Rd., Three Rivers, died Tuesday, August 21, 1984 at Fairview Medical Care Facility in Centreville.

He was born in Salida, Colorado on January 27, 1912, the son of Joseph and Mary (Zaitz) Merkum.

For the past eight years he has made his home with his sister; Mrs. Victoria Smrekar of Three Rivers.
