Frederick C. Baker, who had been associated with the wholesale cotton goods trade for more than 60 years when he retired in 1943, died yesterday at his home, 115A Woodruff Ave. He was 81 and had been in poor health for the last two years.
A son of the late Thomas and Mrs. Melissa Baker, he was born in Brooklyn July 4, 1863. He became associated with the textile industry at an early age, and for 18 years before his retirement, he was with the Kendall Mills, 40 Worth St., Manhattan, as a salesman. For the last 45 years he had been a member of Acanthus Lodge, F. & A.M.
Surviving are two sons, Frederic N., of Baldwin, with the Grumman Aircraft Corporation, and Raymond M., of Cranford, N.J.; a granddaughter, Beverly R. Baker; three sisters, Mrs. John Carruthers of Brooklyn, Mrs. E. Harvey Hunter of East Orange, N.J., and Mrs. Robert E. McKay of Queens Village.
Funeral services will be held at 8 p.m. tomorrow at the Faiarchild Chapel, 86 Lefferts Place, with the Rev. Dr. Cornelius Greenway, pastor of All Souls Church, officiating. Burial will take place Thursday in Green-Wood Cemetery.
