Cecelia's first husband, Homer E. Vassar, was with the 85th Infantry Regiment, 10th Mountain Division in WWII. He was killed in 1945 fighting in Italy. She married her second husband, Eugene T. Sullivan, in 1948. He died in 1958 when the small chartered plane he was on crashed in Long Island Sound.
