Thomas P. Vassar, 31, Press Operator -- Thomas P. Vassar, 31, of 21 Falmouth St. died last night in City Hospital after a long illness. Mr. Vassar was a press operator at Rand-Whitney Container Corp. until last March. He leaves his widow, Mrs. Kathleen C. (McAdam) Vassar; two sons Thomas P. Vassar Jr. and Timothy J. Vassar, and a daughter, Sherrie L. Vassar, all of Worcester; a brother, John M. Vassar of Charlton; a sister, Callista A., wife of George A. Scobie Sr. of Worcester; two half-sisters, Miss Kathleen M. Sullivan of Worcester and Sharleen D., wife of Leo Christian of Castille, N.Y. Mr. Vassar was a member of the Pulp and Paper Workers Union, Local 836, AFL-CIO, and a member of St. Catherine of Sweden parish. He was born in Worcester, a son of Homer E. and Cecelia M. (Cooney) Vassar. The funeral will be held Saturday from Athy Memorial Home, 111 Lancaster St., with a Mass at 10 a.m. in Sacred Heart Church, 600 Cambridge St. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home are 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow.
