Louis G. Adkins, 74, of Chillicothe, died 11:20 p.m. Friday, September 27, 2013 in Mt. Carmel West, Columbus following an extended illness.He was born October 20, 1938, in Wayne County, WV, to the late Wetzel and Mary Lou Ross Adkins. On January 26, 1957, he married the former Columbia Meade who died August 24, 2010.Surviving are children, Brenna (Craig) Gibson, of Chillicothe, Kathy Adkins, of Atlanta, GA, Linda (Anthony) Lemaster, of Williamsport, Louis "Louie" Adkins, of Brunswick, GA, Cherie Terry, of Orlando, FL, and Deborah Knisley, of Columbus; 15 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and two sisters.He was predeceased by a son, Wendell G. Adkins.Louis was a member of the First Freewill Baptist Church. He retired from Georgia-Pacific and had worked for the Mead Corporation. Early in life, Louis was a well known local musician and he had a passion for flying. His philosophy was that every man should own at least 3 boats.Funeral services will be held 3 p.m. Thursday, October 3, 2013 in the WARE FUNERAL HOME with Pastor Mike Montgomery officiating. Burial will follow in Floral Hills Memory Gardens. Friends may call at Ware's from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday.
