Born May 5, 1918, in Mansfield, she was the daughter of Clarence and Margaret E. (Dickson) Schindler. A member of First United Methodist Church, she was a member of the Service Guild, Too Young to Quit and the Susanna Circle. She worked in the office with her husband at Ashland Oil. Mary enjoyed sewing, crafting and making special gifts for her grandchildren. Her grandchildren always said "Granny can fix anything" and she took pride in being a part of their lives.
Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth and Z.C. Crunkilton of Gurnee, Illinois; a daughter and son-in-law, Cynthia and Bill Prater of Mansfield; two grandsons, Keith and Gina Crunkilton and Kelly & Tina Prater; two granddaughters, Heidi & Bob Johnson and Holly & John Thill; two step-grandchildren, Donna & Randy Stiegel and Michael Kenig; 19 great-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; and several step-great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dale E. Crunkilton; a granddaughter, Robin Prater and a sister, Elaine Shaw.
Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Friday, August 15, 2008, at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors. Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday, August 16, 2008, at the funeral home conducted by Rev. Doug Lewis. Burial will follow in Lexington Cemetery. A luncheon will be served prior to the service at the Life Celebration Reception Center beginning at 11:30 a.m.
