Donald V. Tatro, 70, of Lower Park Street in Malone, passed away suddenly on Friday, Oct. 4, 2013, at the Alice Hyde Medical Center in Malone.

Born in Malone on Jan. 30, 1943, he was the son of the late Donald and Gladys Reome Tatro Sr. He was a 1961 graduate of Franklin Academy in Malone and served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War from 1964 to 1966. He was honorably discharged.

Donald worked as a bookkeeper at the Clinton Correctional Facliity in Dannemora for several years and later ran his own paper route and was a part-owner of a tavern in Connecticut. He later moved back to Malone and purcharsed DJ's Market on Lower Park Street. He also worked for Glidens in Bombay until its closing.

Survivors include five brothers and sisters-in-law, Norman and Veronica Tatro of Malone, Gary and Nancy Tatro of Chateaugay Lake, Rickey and Shelly Tatro of Malone, Dickey and Mary Tatro of Malone, and James and Roni Tatro of Malone; three sisters and a brother-in-law, Linda Bigness, Susan Tavernia and Jean and William Martin Jr., all of Malone; a sister-in-law, Sandra Tatro of Malone; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, John Tatro, in 1981 and by a sister, Sally Dear, and her husband, Douglas, who were both killed in an auto accident in 1980.
