Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon in Vallisca, Iowa, for Mrs. Mary Christopher Swan, wife of William Swan and a native of Greene County. Mrs. Swan, who was in her 80th year, died Monday morning, Oct. 15, 1934, at 2:30 o'clock in her home at Vallisca.

She was born in the old Christopher homestead near Khedive and was a daughter of the late John and Mary Cree Christopher. Mrs. Swan spent the early part of her life in the Khedive community, removing to the Iowa city shortly after she was married. She maintained her membership in the Muddy Creek Cumberland Presbyterian Church at Khedive all during her life.

Besides her husband, William Swan, she is survived by the following children: Mrs. Lucinda McCoy, Mrs. Phoebe Ann Orma and John Swan, all of Vallisca. The following sister and brothers also survive: Mrs. William Grooms and Newton Christopher, of Khedive; Jasper Christopher , of Marianna, and George Christopher, of Rices Landing. Five grandchildren and several great-grandchildren also survive. Burial was in Vallisca, Iowa.
