She was born on Jan. 31, 1924 in Greenview, IL, the daughter of the late William and Minnie (Merry) Ulery.
She worked as a claims adjustor for Horace Mann Insurance Co. and volunteered at Lewis Memorial Christian Village for several years.
She was a member of West Side Christian Church in Springfield and was active in the "TNT" Sunday School there.
Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her greatest pride and joy, and her love for them was reciprocated. Her favorite pastimes were watching sports, especially baseball, and playing cards and games with family and friends. Her flawless memory and handwriting were envied by all.
Wilma is survived by a daughter Jan (Mellinger) Peebles of Springfield; three grandchildren, Tim (wife Patty) Peebles of Chicago, IL, Jodi (husband Ric) Grant of Springfield, and Traci (husband A.J.) Sperle of Island Lake, IL; five great-grandchildren; and a niece. She is also survived by another niece and a nephew.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Florence, Gladys, and Lois, and a son-in-law Gary Peebles.
Services are under the direction of Bisch Funeral Home West, 2931 S. Koke Mill Rd., where visitation will be held on Saturday, Oct. 12, 2013 from 10 am until time of the funeral service at 12 Noon. Cindy Lash will officiate the service. Cremation rites will follow.
Memorials may be made to "Daily Bread" through Senior Services.
