Shirley Hardman
Birth: Jun. 7, 1939
Washington, USA
Death: Aug. 1, 1973
Los Angeles County
California, USA

Athlete. Nicknamed "The Blonde Bomber", she was a popular star of Roller Derby during that sport's heyday in the late 1960s. Between 1965 and 1973 Hardman skated for the New York Bombers, Texas Outlaws, and Los Angeles T-Birds, helping the latter win the World Championship in 1971. Her death at 34 was the result of an accidental drowning. Aficionados of the game regard Hardman as possibly the greatest of Roller Derby's female skaters. (bio by: Bobb Edwards)
