Was working as a night watchman for Southern Pacific Railroad in the rail yards of Sparks, Nevada when we was struck by a switch engine while on patrol on January 4, 1905. He was taken by train to Sacramento, CA where he died the following day in a hospital.

He is listed on the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial in Washington DC, the Officer Down Memorial Page on the Web, and the Union Pacific Railroad Special Agent Memorial at the UPRR Historical Museum at Council Bluffs, IA.
