OBITUARY
Agnes Stark.
Mrs. Agnes Stark, notice of whose death appears elsewhere in this issue, was the widow of Dr. John Stark, a surgeon of the United States Army, in the Civil
War, the eldest son of Rev. Andrew Stark of the old Scotch Presbyterian Church of New York. Mrs. Stark was the daughter of the late Walter Mason Oddie, N. A.,
an artist of prominece fifty years ago, and Julia Austin Meigs, daughter of Henry Meigs. Mrs. Stark was of revolutionary stock. Her great uncles, Colonel
Return Jonathan Meigs, Major John Meigs and Captain Ciles Meits, were distinquishe dduring the Revolutionary war, as was her great grandfather, Major Mason Wattles of the Sixth Massachusetts. The father of Mrs. Stark moved from
New York, where she was born, to Brooklyn, Bedford, as it was then called, in
1839, and for some time occupied the old Judge Lafferts place. Mrs. Stark spent upward of sixty years of her life in Brooklyn.
