Obituary from the Edwardsville Intelligencer, Edwardsville, Madison County, Illinois, Thursday, March 20, 1947, page 2:
  Mrs. Mary E. Walsh, 79, of R.R. No. 2, Carpenter road, passed away this morning at 5 o'clock in her home, following a lingering illness.
  She was born Dec. 26, 1867, to the late Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Manion and had reached the age of 79 years, two months and six days. Her husband, William Walsh, preceded her in death, April 16, 1940.
  Surviving are two sons, Charles L. Walsh of St. Louis, William Walsh of Milwaukee, Wis., four brothers Emmett Manion, Cyrus Manion, both of Milwaukee, Edward Manion of St. Louis and Thomas Manion of Alton and three sisters, Mrs. Joseph O'Neal, Miss Jessie Manion, both of St. Louis, and Mrs. Martin Walsh of R.R. Edwardsville.
  The deceased was a member of St. Mary's Catholic church.
  The body may be viewed at the Straube funeral home after 6 o'clock Friday evening. The Rosary will be said Friday evening at 8 o'clock with the Rev. Fr. P.P. McGuinness in charge.
  Funeral rites will be held Saturday morning at 8:30 from the funeral home and at 9 o'clock from St. Mary's Catholic church. Rev. Fr. McGuinness will officiate. Burial will be in Calvary cemetery.
