Lester L. Gilliland, age 80, of Birmingham, Alabama, died Thursday, April 3, 2003. He was retired from Magic City Dodge after 37 years of service and was a Navy veteran of World War II where he served on the USS Barber in the Pacific fleet.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Florence W. Gilliland; three daughters, son, grandchildren, sisters, Opal Pruitt and Betty Thomas; brothers, N.L. Gilliland, Charles W. Gilliland, and Ralph Gilliland.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 5th, at Ridout's Valley Chapel in Homewood with burial to follow at Elmwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Valley Chapel.
