He was born in Lincoln County, WV, on Feb. 28, 1921, a son of the late Raven R. Barker and Lena (Mullens) Barker.
Surviving are his wife, Clarice (Wylie) Barker; stepchildren, Bill and Gabi Whanger, Larry and Susan Whanger, Cherie Davenport, Kerry and Tina Whanger, Shane Whanger and Stephen Whanger; three sisters, Ruth Osborn, Edna and Dick McPeek and Shirley and Douglas Crawford; eight grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
He also was preceded in death by an infant son, Michael and a brother, Denver Barker.
Mr. Barker was a member of the Christ Episcopal Church in Clarksburg.
He was a member of Allegheny Lodge 136, A.F.&A.M., White Sulphur Springs, WV.
He served his country during World War II in the Army Air Force.
Mr. Barker was owner of Hobart Sales and Service for many years until his retirement.
Friends may call at the Davis-Weaver Funeral Home, 329 East Main St., Clarksburg, from 6-8 p.m. Thursday. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 25, 2013, at the Christ Episcopal Church in Clarksburg with the Rev. Ann West presiding. Interment will be in the Bridgeport Cemetery.
