Thomas Davey was the first of nine children born to Joseph Davey and Elizabeth (Glanvill) Davey in Penponds, Camborne (Cornwall) England on Feb 2, 1813 and baptized on Feb 13 of that same year.

He married Hannah Osborne, daughter of John and Hannah (Trezona) Osborne, on Aug 14, 1835 in Camborne. Their first child, Mary Hannah Davey, was born to them June 26, 1835 and together the small family of three emigrated to the United States, arriving on the ship Montreal in New York on March 28, 1937. They settled in Wisconsin in 1938, adding five more children to the Davey family.

Mary Hannah Davey: 1835-1906 (Married William Mauger, 28 Aug 1854)
Francis Elizabeth Davey: 1838-1893 (Married James Volentine Mayhew, 17 May 1859)
Joseph John Davey: 1841-1869 (Married Eliza L Martin, 22 Oct 1861)
Thomas Henry Davey: 1843-1881
Caroline Jane Davey: 1845-1930 (Married Edward Devlin, 21 Aug 1862)
Orange Scott: 1848-1888 (Married Janie Hutchins, 9 Jul 1868)

Thomas Davey was first engaged to assay copper ore by a company with its headquarters in Mineral Point. On the closure of that company he began work as a store clerk for two years until opening a jewelry store on High Street, which he ran until the Fall of 1876 when he sold it to Birely and son.

His obituary speaks of man who enjoyed the esteem and respect of all citizens, and was identified as a leading businessman of his day, always ready to help those less fortunate and taking an active part in all matters that concerned the welfare of Mineral Point.

After a protracted and tedious illness, Thomas Davey passed away at his home on the afternoon of Jan 27, 1881 at the age of 68.
