Frank Lancy was going to ride one of his brother John's horses when a newspaper blew in the horse's face. The horse capered and bumped into a telephone pole smashing poor Frank.

The girls Gavin were walking, and they got help and quieted the horse. Frank was badly smashed, and died in a little while, on 16 Apr 1910.

Frank helped Nellie with her work, and always cooked the Sunday dinner. When a boy at home he used to tease his sister Elizabeth "Lizzie" Hooper Lancy by putting shavings of soap in her coffee.
