Joseph Donley Shough, aged 75, member of a prominent Gilmore Township family, died Monday afternoon, June 14, 1943, at 4:35 at the old Shough homestead. Mr. Shough had been ill of heart trouble for some time, but his condition did not become serious until about two weeks ago.

Mr. Shough was a retired carpenter and was widely known in western Greene County. A son of George W. and Jane Gidley Shough, he was born May 29, 1868, in Gilmore Township, and was married September 28, 1898, to Rinnie White, who survives with one daughter, Carrie, wife of Earl Goodman, of Washington, D. C. One son, Ralph, is deceased. He also leaves two sisters and five brothers, namely: Mrs. Charles V. Garrison, of Waynesburg; Miss Mary Shough, of Wheeling, W. Va.; Phillip Shough, of Hundred, W, Va.; Oscar, Howard and Charles Shough, of Garrison, and Lot Shough, of Aleppo. Mr. Shough was a member of the Methodist Church and spent all his life in Gilmore Township with the exception of 17 years, during which he resided in Morgantown, W, Va.
