Tommy Caldwell
Original name: Thomas Michael Caldwell
Birth: Nov. 9, 1949
Death: Apr. 28, 1980

Musician. Born in Spartanburg, South Carolina, he was a bass guitar player and leader of the Southern rock group the "Marshall Tucker Band". In 1973, together with his brother guitar player Toy Caldwell, he formed the band which was signed to Capricorn Records. The group produced multiple gold records with hits to include "Fire on the Mountain", "Can't You See", "Heard It In a Love Song", "Take the Highway" and performed in arenas around the world. On April 22, 1980, while driving to the local YMCA in Spartanburg, his off-road jeep collided with another vehicle. He died a week later from his injuries. (bio by: John "J-Cat" Griffith)
