Police Chief Steven Fleming succumbed to injuries sustained one week earlier when he fell form a ladder at the police department's evidence building on October 25th, 2013.

He was transported to a local hospital, where he remained until succumbing to the injuries on November 1st, 2013.

Chief Fleming had served with the Gainesville Police Department for 22 years. He is survived by his wife and daughter.

Funeral services for Steven Keith Fleming, 44, of Gainesville are set for 2:00 p.m. Thursday, November 7, 2013 at the First Baptist Church in Gainesville, with Dr. Eddie Chennault officiating. Burial will follow in the Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home. A visitation will be held at the funeral home from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 6, 2013.

Steve was born in Kerrville on March 26, 1969 to Lemuel Edward and Barbara Louise (Crisp) Fleming. He passed away on November 1, 2013 in Plano.

He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Kimberly Kay Fleming of Gainesville; daughter Maegan Elizabeth Fleming of Gainesville; mother Barbara Fleming-Franklin and her husband David of Howe; brother Jimmy Edward Fleming of Chillicothe; and father-in-law and mother-in-law Jack and Janet Hunter of Vernon.

He was preceded in death by his father on December 8, 2003.
