Stewart Meade, Jr., 78, died Friday, Dec 24, 1999 in Bristol Regional Medical Center. He was born in Lebanon, VA, a son of the late Stuart and Lillie Farmer Meade. He lived in Louisville, KY for several years and returned to this area 17 years ago. He was the widower of Mary McGinnis Meade. He was a US Army veteran of World War II, was wounded in Germany receiving the Purple Heart and the Silver Star. He was of the Methodist faith.
Surviving are five sister, Virginia Almany of Blountville, TN, Carrie White and Shirley Chafin both of Lebanon, Evelyn Carty and Maida Hawkins, both of Bristol, VA; three brothers, Kemper Gilmer Meade of Bristol, VA and William Meade and Marshall Meade of Lebanon; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 8 p.m. in Blevins Funeral Home Chaple. Private burial will be Wednesday in Cave Hill Cemetery in Louisville, KY.
The family will receive friends from 6pm to 8pm Tuesday before the service in Blevins Funeral Home.
