The couple resided in rural Algoma, where they engaged in dairy farming. The marriage was blessed with eight children. Ethel was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church, Manitowoc. She served in the church Ladies Aid and the Ladies Quilting Circle, also as a Sunday school teacher for many years. In Cleveland, she was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary.
Ethel is survived by five sons, Dr. Ken Glander, and his wife, Bonnie Larson, Durham N.C.; Klinton Glander, Algoma; the Rev. James (Dierdre) Glander, North Augusta S.C.; Richard Glander, Pembine Wis.; and the Rev. Randall (Anne) Glander, Fort Wayne, Ind.; two daughters, Noreen (David) Lemmen, Georgetown S.C.; and Nila (Thomas) Born, Cleveland, Wis; nine grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; one brother, Emery (Judy) Bitzan, Brookfield, Wis.; three sisters, Edna (Floyd) Hanamann, Pembine, Wis.; Edna Anderson, Sturgeon Bay Wis.; and Eleanor Machut, Kewaunee, Wis.
Preceding her in death are one son, Garry; three brothers and one sister.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 6, 2011, at Redeemer Lutheran Church, Manitowoc. Pastor Eric W. Kolonich will officiate and entombment will follow at Knollwood Chapel Mausoleum, Town of Kossuth. Friends may call at the church on Wednesday, July 6, 2011, from 9 a.m. until the hour of service.
The family has established a memorial fund for Redeemer Lutheran Church, Lutheran Hour and Concordia Seminary in Ethel's name.
The Stoltenberg Funeral Chapel, Cleveland Wis., is assisting the family with these funeral arrangements.
